Alexis René Glabach (born November 23, 1996), known professionally as Alexis Ren, is an American social media personality,[2] actress,[3] entrepreneur,[4] environmental- as well as mental-health activist[5] and model.[6]

Early life[edit]

On November 23, 1996, Ren was born Alexis René Glabach in Santa Monica, California, where she grew up[7] and was homeschooled.[8] She has three sisters and one younger brother.[8]

Career[edit]

Modeling

At 13, Ren was discovered and became a model for the label Brandy Melville.[7] She became a social media phenomenon at 15, when photos of her in a black string bikini posing by the pool went viral on Tumblr.[2] Since then she has appeared in a series of advertisements for the mobile game Final Fantasy XV: A New Empire.[9][10] She launched an activewear line called Ren Active.[11] Ren was named a Sports Illustrated Swimsuit 2018 Rookie of the year.[12] On September 12, 2018, Ren was announced as one of the celebrities who would compete on season 27 of Dancing with the Stars. Her professional partner was Alan Bersten.[13] Ren and Bersten reached the finals and came in fourth place on November 19, 2018.[14]

She was Maxim's cover girl for the August 2017 issue,[15] Maxim's Mexico cover girl for the March 2018 issue, and Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue Rookie for 2018.[12][16] She was included in Maxim's Hot 100 list of Sexiest Women in the World in 2019.

In October 2019, she starred as "Scarlet Jones" in the music video for Ed Sheeran's "South of the Border".[17] Before that, she was also featured in the music video for Kygo's "Not Ok".

Alexis Ren is the founder of a management company in Japan, Meissa Inc. She's worked with Brands like DVF, Revolve, Hyundai, SnapChat, Final Fantasy, Dior, Fenti, Ralph Lauren, Calvin Klein, Express, Colourpop. Furthermore, she was the Covergirl for many magazines such as OceanDrive, Maxim, Modeliste, Gazette, Glitter, Grazia,[18] PHOTO and more. She was also featured in multiple important magazines such as Forbes and Vogue.[19] Moreover, she has been invited to many different film premieres and red carpet events. Once in a while, she was invited to podcasts.[20]

Venturing into Vlogging and YouTube

In September 2017, Ren uploaded her first video on YouTube, starting her YouTube Channel which has more than one million followers by now. Her second video, "10 minute ab workout" is her most successful video to date with more than 50 million views and counting.[21] Across Social Media (Instagram, TikTok, YouTube and Twitter) she has more than 20 million followers to date.[4]

Singing

She uploaded her first cover in April 2020 on her YouTube Channel.[22] Since then she released a couple different covers, songs and collaborations on her YouTube Channel as well as on other streaming platforms as Spotify. To date she has amassed more than one million streams across all platforms.

Activism

Ren is on top of her busy schedule an activist for mental-health, the climate change as well as sustainability and eating disorders. She defines herself as a feminist. Many of her activism is intertwined with her being an entrepreneur as she launched and founded 'We Are Warriors (WAW)' (a mental health and sports community) as well as FPXll (a sustainable clothing and lifestyle brand). Her environmental activism has lead to teaming up with coral gardeners in 2019.[23]

Entrepreneurship - Founder of wearewarroirs, Sirens and Co-Founder of FPXII

Model-meets-activist Alexis Ren wants to get her 14 million followers to think about all the plastic waste in their lives — and do something about it. That’s why she’s teamed up with film director and fellow activist Vanessa Black and blogger Jhánneu Roberts to democratize sustainability. And they’ve been building this new self-funded venture titled Future Prosperity (FPXll) primarily during this pandemic thanks to virtual meetings, the duo joke, just before their launch in October 2020.[24]

Future Prosperity (FPXII) is a futurist lifestyle brand offering regenerative essentials and apparel. The now 23-year-old represents a new generation of women that are not afraid of being seen and heard. Ren is creating her own category of what it means to be a modern woman.[25]

"She recently founded Sirens, a women-led community of 10,000 unique NFTs built on top of Solana blockchain supporting mental health, education, and eco-villages which has now attracted nearly 10,000 members. The project is also in partnership with Magic Eden launchpad, Solana’s leading NFT marketplace.

Alexis says that Sirens marks her official entry into the NFT and Web3 space and unlike many other NFT projects out there, she wants Sirens to be different in that it’s primarily community and mental health-driven.

Ren is also a big crypto advocate, when asked when crypto first grabbed her attention, she said she first heard about it in 2017. At first, she didn’t fully digest it, but over time she started getting more comfortable with the idea. And it wasn’t until one and a half years ago that she started putting money into cryptocurrencies.

She said that her compounded knowledge of crypto has also pushed her the idea of helping girls and women get into crypto early. She’s currently doing it at her mental wellness community, We Are Warriors (WAW), which is built on top of tech platform, STAGE, which Alexis also co-founded to host the communities she’s creating. She said that what she’s already doing with WAW, also wants it to extend at Sirens, but on a much bigger scale.

The project lies in the intersection of mental wellness, education, community, and eco-friendly living, which Ren is deeply passionate about.

Sirens will start by building the community online through NFT sales, however, Ren emphasizes that she wants Sirens to be more than just a simple NFT project and she wants Sirens to be a doorway back into the real world, creating a sense of belonging for its community members. What also excites Alexis is the idea that ‘NFTs becoming physical’ and that they can be keys to real-life human experiences.

As for We Are Warriors (WAW), Ren is currently leading and educating a community of young girls spanning all over 70+ countries to get into mental wellness, journaling and meditation, and financial literacy, which includes how to start your own crypto wallet and buy NFTs. The mental wellness platform has since incorporated NFT (Non-Fungible Token) and DAO (Decentralized Autonomous Organization) features allowing members to own a piece of the platform.

WAW and her fondness for mental wellness led her to the creation of Sirens and her Mom being a holistic health nutritionist has inspired her to follow the mental wellness journey. With Sirens, she wants to connect mental wellness into NFTs and Web3.

When asked further how WAW connects with Sirens, Alexis explains that Sirens is like an ‘adult’ version of WAW and that she’s on a mission to demystify crypto both for girls and women. Unlike many other projects who take the technology-first approach, Alexis wants Sirens to be community-first and that technology is at the frontier.

In addition, Sirens also plans on building eco-villages. Ren has lived in Hawaii and she experienced what it means to live beautifully in an eco-friendly setting with solar panels, garden, and spiritual vibe. So, they plan on purchasing land in Texas where community members can gather together, connect, and enjoy the beauty of nature and life itself.

She wants to create a sense of belonging just like when you go to your favorite coffee shop and have the barista already knowing your name and what you want. “I want to be able to replicate that feeling for our community members at Sirens.” Alexis adds.

Sirens village will also host a summer camp and festivals where thought leaders could share ideas and connect with community members. The roadmap for Sirens includes crypto courses, weekly virtual wellness classes hosted by We Are Warriors (WAW), DAO capabilities like decentralized ownership, voting rights, and the construction of eco-villages."[5]

"Influencer and entrepreneur, Alexis Ren, has launched a new interactive platform for women focusing on personal development and community connection. The Dancing With The Stars alum who has over 20 million followers on social media saw the need to bring community and connection to women during the beginning of the pandemic. Initially Ren was building a community over DM’s which then transitioned to monthly challenges over Zoom. When the demand for these monthly challenges began to increase into the summer of 2020, Ren realized she needed to provide a more formal experience for the women where collaboration, growth and community could intersect.

“I felt that social media in today’s world had become a place of competition and distorted ideas of what it meant to live a fulfilled life; I wanted to create a community that served as a safe space for women to heal, grow, learn, and support one another, rather than comparing themselves. Now more than ever, we need these warriors of support in our life – to make us feel connected wherever we are and no matter what we’re going through. We Are Warriors (WAW) empowers young women to transform their mind through a 360-degree approach, including fitness, education, journaling, meditation, and live calls, 30 days at a time,” shared Ren. “WAW is different from other platforms in that we teach meaningful accountability through community, so members feel connected to the community of over 3,000+ women from over 70+ countries, and through that, they learn to connect with themselves. By hosting what we call ‘live calls’ we’re able to experience this sense of community over zoom and form real relationships while we’re all making sustainable changes for the mind and body together. We are Warriors was named by the members themselves! I had initially created a 30-day mental and physical challenge at the beginning of 2020 and all of the members called themselves wARriors. It stuck because at the core, that’s what we all are.”

Every month the warriors take on a new challenge together to evolve mentally, physically, and spiritually. An expert instructor leads each challenge by designing a curriculum and then providing pre-recorded video content and hosting weekly live calls throughout the duration of the challenge. The challenges range from dance, fitness, ballet, yoga, meditation, soul talks, boxing, and more. “We are launching a ‘finance challenge’ soon where our warriors can learn incredible tips and habits for saving, taxes, smart credit decisions, investing, and more. I believe it’s so important for females to feel in control of their future and there are so many ways we can further teach and empower each other,” Ren explained about the upcoming finance challenge.

When members join WAW, they have access to all of the past challenges including fourteen courses and over 200 videos. All challenges are accompanied by daily journaling prompts and community live calls. Inside the member dashboard, members can find journal journeys with daily prompts that focus on everything from gratitude to confidence to self-care. Additionally, a number of live group calls are held through the week. “I host a group call personally that really feels like going to a group therapy session with your best friends. We talk about what we’re struggling with and celebrating, do a journaling prompt together, a self-reflection talk, a meditation and always end with warriors shout-outs – a time for our members to highlight & send love to each other,” explained Ren. “Aside from my call, the instructor hosting the monthly challenge has their own live call, in addition to live yoga and workouts throughout the week – sometimes held by our community members themselves!”

Ren created WAW during a time when everyone needed to feel a sense of community more than ever. The growth in the community numbers and the power of women uplifting one another and growing together, motivated her to really launch the new online platform. “The full launch and new online platform is a really exciting evolution for us as it gives us the ability to create a hub for members with everything in one place. From an interactive calendar that posts new calls and events daily to your own personalized profile and private chats for you and your accountability sisters, it really fosters the community ethos of WAW. Community is the foundation of WAW, so it was important to us to listen to our members about what they wanted to see and grow a really authentic platform with those ideas in mind. We would love to invite others to experience the new platform; we are currently offering a free one week trial for anyone who signs up,” said Ren.

With over 3,300 members spanning across 72 countries including Spain, New Zealand, France, Japan, Brazil, Italy, Saudi Arabia, and Canada Ren is working creating an app, and plans to expand the movement into more physical events, once it is safe to do so. “My biggest goal is to continuously bring on more mentors who we can all learn and grow with and help these girls grow into their own power and share it with the world. The world is going through big changes and I know that what we need more of are warriors who know their potential and have a community backing them wherever they go in life,” she shared."[4]

Personal life[edit]

Her mother, a health nutritionist expert, died in 2014 due to colon cancer.[26] Following the death of her mother, Ren developed an eating disorder, which she later opened up about, saying she was in "a toxic state of mind".[8]

In her free time she loves to do ballet, singing and travelling. She mentioned that she loved to go to ballet classes in her childhood and aspires to continue doing it into adulthood. Proof for her love for travelling can be seen on her Instagram and YouTube. As she suffered from an eating disorder in her late teens, she is now an advocate for healthy eating and an activist for mental-health. She also loves to workout and educate herself about environmental issues, spiritual topics and mental health.[27]

Ren dated travel influencer and surfer Jay Alvarrez from 2015 to 2016. She confirmed a romance with her dance partner Alan Bersten from October 2018 to December 2018 while filming the 27th season of Dancing with the Stars. Ren was in a relationship with actor and model Noah Centineo from March 2019 to January 2020.[28]
