PERT stands for Program Evaluation and Review Technique. This technique is used to plan and identify the time taken for the completion of particular activity and event of the project. As the name indicates the critical path is identified because if an activity delays all activities have to be suffered.

In CPM all the activities are listed which have to perform or complete for the project completion. After that, the sequence is maintained because many activities are dependent on previous activities. Simply means some actives are on starts after the completion of the previous activity. And then estimates the time required for the completion of each activity. after that a critical path is selected. The critical path is the longest sequence of the activities that have to complete on time.
