Special Ammunition is a buff found in Tom Clancy's The Division and Tom Clancy's The Division 2. In the first game, special ammo is a consumable while in the second game it is a collectible.

Tom Clancy's The Division

In The Division, there are two types of special ammo that can be used in the form of bullets. Once one bullet is consumed, it acts as a temporary buff, active for all weapons, for 30 seconds.

Explosive Bullets

Explosive bullets increase the user's threat, which distracts enemies from other agents and reduces the likelihood of deployed skills (such as the Turret) being targeted by enemy fire.

Incendiary Bullets

Incendiary bullets have a chance to set targets on fire. This is a helpful consumable against elite or named enemies. However, it should be noted that Cleaners in the Elite/Named category are immune to Incendiary bullets.

Tom Clancy's The Division 2

In The Division 2, special ammunition are collectibles that are found within missions and the open world, and are usually collected from specified caches or dropped from certain hostiles. Once picked up, special ammo is tied to that one specific gun and has a charge of 30 bullets. There's currently five types of special ammo out for collecting.

High Velocity Ammo

High velocity ammunition has a 100% guarantee of staggering hostiles. This ammo is especially useful against Elite and Named Throwers and Heavies, who are more resilient to traditional staggering methods.

High velocity ammo is commonly found in Outcast and Cleaner controlled territories and missions, and are contained in dark grey and red boxes.

Explosive Ammo

Explosive ammunition causes targets to bleed on hit. Elite enemies are more resilient to the Explosive effects and the effect ends on them quickly.

Explosive ammo can be found in Outcast, Riker and True Sons territories and missions, and are contained within red and yellow boxes.

Incendiary Ammo

Incendiary ammunition causes targets to be ignited on fire on hit. Elite and Named enemies are more resilient to the fire effects, getting into cover and waiting for the flames to die down rather than attempting to pat themselves out in the open. Heavies are outright resistant to fire effects.

Incendiary ammo can be found in Cleaner and Outcast controlled missions and areas, and are contained in yellow and red boxes.

Shock Ammo

Shock ammunition paralyzes targets via shock on hit. Elite enemies are more resilient to shock effects, while some Named enemies are outright immune to it.

Shock ammo can be found in Hyena and Black Tusk missions and territories and are contained in white and red boxes.

Hollow-Point Ammo

Hollow-Point ammunition applies Bleed on targets on hit, and boosts weapon damage. Elite and Named enemies will be more resistant to it, causing the effect to be shorter in time.

Hollow-Point ammo is currently only available while using the Ongoing Directive Gear Set, where enemies will drop the ammo upon death.

In Tom Clancy’s The Divsion 2 bekommt ihr es mit haufenweise Gegnern zu tun, die ihr erledigen solltet, damit sie euch nicht über den Haufen schießen. Wir erklären euch alles nötige zur Munition im Spiel, damit ihr an dieser Front keine Probleme bekommt.

Woher bekomme ich Munition in The Division 2?

Wer bereits den Vorgänger gespielt hat, weiß: An Munition mangelt es in The Divsion nur in den seltensten Fällen. Bestreitet ihr eine Storymission, findet ihr unterwegs immer wieder Munitionskisten, die euren Vorrat komplett auffüllen.

Darüber hinaus lassen sowohl in Missionen als auch im freien Spiel auch die erledigten Gegner in angenehmer Regelmäßigkeit Kugeln für euch fallen. Damit ihr eure Taschen noch voller stopfen könnt, solltet ihr unbedingt beim Quartiermeister im Weißen Haus den zugehörigen Vorteil freischalten und verbessern.

Achtet außerdem darauf, immer zwei unterschiedliche Waffen ausgerüstet zu haben. Selbst wenn ihr noch so gerne mit einem Scharfschützengewehr oder LMG spielt: Es bringt nichts, in beiden Slots die gleiche Waffenklasse ausgerüstet zu haben, weil sie auf den gleiche Munitionsvorrat zurückgreifen. Habt stattdessen lieber zwei unterschiedliche Waffen dabei, dann steht ihr nicht so schnell mit heruntergelassenen Hosen da.

Im freien Feld solltet ihr nicht zu lange stehen. Sucht euch stattdessen Deckungen, um nicht zu viel Schaden zu kassieren.

Spezialmunition: Woher ihr sie bekommt und wie ihr die Munition wechselt

Zusätzlich zu der normalen Munition findet ihr ab und zu in The Division 2 auch noch Spezialmunition. Veteranen kennen sie bereits aus The Division 1, wo sie zuverlässig in der Basis aus der Kiste beim Schießstand gezogen wurde. Das geht in The Division 2 leider nicht mehr: Brand-, Schock- und sonstige Spezialmunition erhaltet ihr jetzt im Spiel, wenn ihr beispielsweise Kisten lootet.

Die zweite schlechte Nachricht folgt zudem direkt: Ihr könnt die Munition nicht mehr wechseln, wie es noch im Vorgänger per Knopfdruck ging. Stattdessen wird sie direkt ausgerüstet, wenn ihr sie aufsammelt. Ihr habt also keine Möglichkeit mehr, euch die stärkere Munition für einen Bosskampf aufzuheben.

Aber: Die Munition ist gezielter platziert. Findet ihr also beispielsweise Schockmunition, solltet ihr euch schon mal auf einen anstrengenderen Kampf gefasst machen. Ihr habt zwar weniger Kontrolle über eure Munition, allerdings bereitet euch das Spiel dennoch auf die Gefahr vor, die hinter der nächsten Ecke lauert. In solchen Fällen findet ihr die Munition in kleineren Kisten mit einem roten Deckel.
