Outer Banks Sarah und John B

Season two of Outer Banks just released and you know what that means? More cliffhangers, mysteries, and murder.

This Netflix drama focuses on a group of teenagers called “the Pogues” who are searching for a century-lost treasure. But they’re not the only ones on the small island looking for the gold. And the enemies they’re fighting against? Well, let’s just say, they’re more than willing to fight tooth and nail for it.

Season two picks up exactly where season one left off with Sarah and John B. heading to Nassau, Bahamas where the gold is stashed in Sarah’s family vacation house. The rest of the Pogues—JJ, Kie, and Pope—are still under the assumption that their friends perished in the hurricane and begin to start the new school year in mourning.

After landing in Nassau, John B. and Sarah work with Captain Terrance, Stubbs, and Cleo to retrieve the stolen gold from her family’s house. Of course, with this being a TV show, shit goes awry. Does the group get the gold? Surprisingly, yes. But only at the cost of Sarah, who suffers a gunshot wound from her brother, Rafe. A classic cliffhanger.

You’d think that a main character wouldn’t be killed off early in the season. But never say never with Outer Banks. Does Sarah succumb to her wounds? Or, does she, surprisingly, make it out alive? Read on to know the fate behind Sarah Cameron.

Does Sarah Cameron die?

Yes and no. After Sarah realizes she’s shot, she and John B. head to an under-the-table doctor recommended by Captain Terrance. The doctor tries to save her but the blood loss is too much for her body and she sadly flatlines.

Unable to accept her death, John B. repeatedly performs CPR until a sudden miracle happens: Sarah awakens from the grasp of death. She then gets off the operating table (as if she didn’t just die for a second?) and heads back to the mission—retrieving the gold and heading back to Outer Banks. No one can say Sarah isn’t resilient.

If you think this small moment in season two shocked you, prepare to be on the edge of your seat for the remaining episodes.

Outer Banks has returned to Netflix with season 2 to answer some of the biggest lingering questions from the impossibly exciting season 1 finale. Obviously, the Pogues wanted to know if John B and Sarah would make it to see Outer Banks season 2, but now we want to know if their relationship made it through season 2.

The star-crossed couple had a rough go of it from the jump in Outer Banks season 2, but their fate isn’t much of a spoiler. John B and Sarah made it through the storm to the Bahamas to track down Ward’s gold, but living on the run adds some wear and tear to a relationship.

Even though John B and Sarah appeared stronger than ever as a team in the Bahamas, taking every fork in the road and near-death experience in stride (as much as they could), the layered complications of returning home and facing the harsh realities hit their ship with the ultimate test — maybe even bigger than the storm they survived.

If you’re still making your way through Outer Banks season 2 on Netflix but want a little sneak peak at what’s to come, or if you’ve just finished your binge-watch and need some clarity on where things end up, here’s the state of affairs for John B and Sarah’s relationship. Spoilers ahead!

Do John B and Sarah break up in Outer Banks season 2?

For most of season 2, John B and Sarah are a perfect unit. Even though they faced disagreements and life-or-death issues while on the run, they stuck together because, well, they had no choice but to rely on the love between them. But that love only goes so far when things get real.

When John B and Sarah return to the Outer Banks, the running sadly doesn’t stop until John B gets arrested for killing Sheriff Peterkin, a crime he famously did not commit. But when Ward runs out of luck and confesses to the crime to save Rafe, he blows himself up on the My Druthers.

Of course, Ward does so with a crowd watching because subtlety isn’t a concept he understands. The Pogues, including Sarah, watch us the boat goes up in flames with Ward inside. Even with everything that has transpired, Sarah is distraught watching her father’s death.

John B doesn’t rush to comfort Sarah. He looks on at the explosion with relief, knowing that the man who killed his father and tried to frame him for a heinous crime, can no longer hurt them. But Topper rushes to hold Sarah, leaving her to later end things with John B for leaving her alone.

Do John B and Sarah get back together in season 2?

All hope isn’t lost for John B and Sarah in Outer Banks season 2. Although they explore moving on with other people at the bonfire, their mutual jealousy seems to hint that neither of them are ready to move on or even ready to be apart from each other.

Sarah rejoins the Pogues to help with tracking down the Cross of Santo Domingo for Pope, and although she insists she’s back on board for Pope, Sarah’s feelings for John B are obvious. After a brief hiatus, John B and Sarah get back together and recommit themselves via bandana string.

There are endless questions to come for the potential Outer Banks season 3 given where the season left off, but a question we don’t have to ponder is whether John B and Sarah end up together. Our favorite Pogues are as tight as a knot.
