Development refers to an increase in structure for better and enhanced functioning of organs. It is a wide and continuous process that starts from the pre-natal stage.
- In the pre-natal stage, the baby develops inside the mother's womb and becomes a mature one by passing through three different stages of prenatal development.
- The pre-natal stage is the development process of the child, that occurs during the period of 38 weeks prior to the birth, during this period a single cell becomes a full-term baby.
The proper order of prenatal development is:
Stage 1: The Germinal Stage
- The two-week period after conception is said to be the Germinal Stage. Conception occurs when a sperm cell combines with an egg cell from a Zygote.
Stage 2: The Embryonic Stage
- The Embryonic Stage lasts from 8 weeks from conception. The developing ball of cells is termed as Embryo.
Stage 3: The Fetal Stage
- The last stage of prenatal development is the Fetal/Fetus Stage, which lasts from 9 weeks until birth or 38 to 40 weeks.
Hence, it could be concluded that the proper order of prenatal development is zygote, embryo, fetus.
