Today, VideoLAN is publishing the 3.0.18 release of VLC, which adds support for a few formats, improves adaptive streaming support, fixes some crashes and updates many third party libraries. More details on the release page. This release also fixes multiple security issues, which are detailed here.

Der VLC Media Player 3.0.8 (früher unter dem Namen VideoLAN Client oder VLC Player bekannt) spielt nahezu alle Audio- und Videodateien ab, darunter MP3s, DVDs, Video-CDs, MPEGs und DivX.
Die Besonderheit: VLC unterstützt MPEG- und DivX-Streaming und kann damit auch Videos schon während des Downloads abspielen. Schauen Sie sich den Beginn des Films an, und prüfen Sie, ob sich der Download lohnt. Neben MPEG- und DivX Videos ist auch die Wiedergabe von DVDs, Video CDs, MP3s (Internet Radio), MOV und FLV Dateien möglich.
Filme, die zu leise aufgenommen sind können auf 200% höherer Lautstärke wiedergegeben werden. In der aktuellen Version soll unter Windows 7 (auch 64 Bit) und unter Linux die Prozessorauslastung auf unter 10% fallen und eine nahtlose Integration in die Windows 7 Superbar ist möglich.
VLC spielt folgende Formate: MPEG-1, MPEG-2, MPEG-4, DivX, mp3, ogg, H264, VC-1, WMV, WMA, Vorbis, AC3, AAC, AVI, MKV, 3GP, MOV, WAV, FLV (Flash), midi uvm.

Which version of Windows am I running?
Windows 10 | Windows Media Player 12 | Included in clean installs of Windows 10 as well as upgrades to Windows 10 from Windows 8.1 or Windows 7. In some editions of Windows 10, it's included as an optional feature that you can enable. To do that, select the Start button, then select Settings > Apps > Apps & features > Manage optional features > Add a feature > Windows Media Player, and select Install. Enable Windows Media Player DVD playback isn't included. Go to the DVD playback for Windows page to find out how to add DVD playback to Windows 10. |

If you want to reinstall Windows Media Player, try the following:
Click the Start button, type features, and select Turn Windows features on or off.
Scroll down and expand Media Features, clear the Windows Media Player check box, and click OK.
Restart your device. Windows Media Player should be uninstalled.
Repeat step 1.
Scroll down and expand Media Features, select the Windows Media Player check box, and click OK.
Restart your device. Windows Media player should now be reinstalled.
